Player Conduct
Select hockey players are representing BCHL and their conduct both on and off the ice should be reflective of this responsibility. Players are mandated to be committed to the house league teams, first and foremost. Players cannot skip house league games/practices and expect to play with the Select team. We understand that there will be certain circumstances when this is unavoidable. These will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Players are expected to be respectful of their teammates, the coaching staff, their opponents, the referees, and their parents/guardians.
Players are expected to be respectful and supportive of all BCHL players and teams. The younger divisions are looking up to you as role models. The older divisions appreciate the support during exhibition and tournament games.
Players are expected to be respectful in their use of social media and use the team communication platform in a responsible and respectful manner.
Players are expected to be respectful of hockey facilities. Arenas are not to be treated as playgrounds. The majority of arenas have rules banning wheelie shoes and playing ball hockey in the hallways and dressing rooms.
If any of the expectations are not met, it will result in disciplinary action by the Head Coach and/or BCHL Executive.
Parent Conduct & Expectation
Parents are an integral part of the success of the team. Parents must conduct themselves appropriately and adhere to the requirements of the Respect in Sport training. The coaching staff requests that all parents ensure positive support to their children, their teammates, coaching staff and opponents.
The success of the team can be improved or hindered by the individual expectations placed on children by their parents. We ask that you do not encourage your child to display individual goals that may be in conflict with the expectations put on them by the coaching staff.
For any questions or concerns, please email your coach directly or the Director of Select at [email protected]
