Rules and Regulations

1. OHF and Alliance rules will be used in this tournament plus those included here.

2. NO PROTESTS WILL BE ALLOWED. Decisions of the convening committee will be final.

3. Alliance game sheets must be filled in completely, signed and initialed by each head coach and all approved roster team officials.

4. Players arriving late will be permitted to go to the bench during stoppage in play in the FIRST PERIOD ONLY. They must be on the game sheet prior to the game starting.

5. Each team should have two (2) goalies available for games. In the event a second goalie is not available a player must be placed in goal until another player on the game sheet can dress.

6. Coaches and managers are responsible for their players conduct on and off the ice and are liable for any damages caused by players.

7. A player or team official ejected from the game by the referee for a match, major misconduct or fighting major will not be permitted in the rest of the tournament.

8. All major penalties will be reported to the Alliance office at completion of the tournament.

9. Fans that become abusive to officials will be escorted from the premises and not allowed to return. 

10. Any player who receives any three (3) penalties, including a 10 minute misconduct, in a game will be ejected from the game on the third occurrence and another player will serve the penalty.

11. Fighting will result in an immediate suspension from the tournament.

12. Player must participate in a minimum of two (2) round robin games to be eligible to play in the semi-finals or championship games. 

13. Slap shots are allowed in all divisions.

14. Each game consists of two ten (10) minute stop time periods and one fifteen (15) minute stop time period.

15. Games are subject to a sixty (60) minute curfew after the actual start time and not the scheduled time. The start time on the game sheet will be the official start time.

16. There will be straight time in the third period if there is more than a five (5) goal spread (on the fifth goal), stop time will again commence when the deficit is three (3) goals or less. The convener’s decision on start times will be final.

17. Time outs – one (1) 30 second time out per team will be allowed in the SEMI-FINAL AND FINALS ONLY!

18. Teams SHOULD be ready to start fifteen (15 ) minutes prior to game time. A bench minor penalty will be given to the team that is not ready to play. The CAPTAIN will serve this penalty.

19. Two (2) points will be awarded for winning the game and one (1) point for a tie.

20. In the event of a tie for position in the round robin series the following criteria will be in effect in descending order

            A. The top team from the division groups with the most points will move on to the semifinals.

            B. The wild card or second place team in each group will be determined by the following:

            C. If two teams have the same amount of points the following, in order of sequence, will determine the team that moves on:

                        1. If they played each other the team that won moves on.

                        2. If they have not played each other and each team has the same amount of points the European formula 
                        would determine the winner.

                        (European formula = goals against divided by total goals. This is the total goals for and 
                        against combined for team involved only. Note: team with lowest percentage moves on.)

                        
3. If still tied then the team with the least penalty minutes moves on.

                        4. If still tied then the team that has scored the most goals moves on.

                        5. If still tied then a coin toss will be used decide tie break.

21. In the semi-finals, teams will play a maximum of one (1) five (5) minute sudden death, stop time, overtime period to decide the outcome. This will be played four (4) on four (4). The goalkeeper who starts the overtime will be the goalkeeper who played last in regulation time. In the event the score remains tied at the end of overtime it will then go to a shootout using the three (3) players who were selected prior to game time. If the game is still tied after three shooters, then sudden death until a winner is declared.

The same players cannot shoot again unless enitre roster has been used and a winner has not yet been declared. The convenors will be responsible to ask the Coach’s to please list the 3 shooters on the gamesheet before the game.

NOTE: the finals will have two (2) five (5) minute sudden death, stop-time, overtime periods before the shootouts. 

22. Dressing rooms should be available thirty (30) minutes prior to the game and should be vacated twenty (20) minutes after game time. Please report any problems with the dressing rooms immediately to the tournament committee. Teams littering or defacing dressing rooms or arena property will be expelled from the tournament and will be held responsible for damages that may occur.

23. No responsibility will be accepted by the tournament committee or volunteers for any injuries, damages or theft, which may take place during the tournament.

EQUIPMENT MUST BE C.H.A. APPROVED INCLUDING BNQ NECK GUARDS. MOUTHGUARDS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BUT ARE MANDATORY ONLY FOR O.M.H.A. TEAMS.
